Are you a people pleaser?

My brilliant answer …

What a timely question, Sadie.

In today’s world with so many diverse options which cause so many political divisions, do I try to please the people I am around? Or do I try to stay true to myself?

I try to be kind.

I try to be welcoming.

I enjoy getting to know people. People from all different cultures and backgrounds.

I try accept each person as they are and where they are in their walk of walk.

Am I willing to lose myself … who I am … to “please” someone? No.

I think people can find common ground and learn of each other and from each other without drawing battle lines that say, “If you believe this, then you are … and I can’t be your friend.”

Insulating yourself in a world that only contains people of your own beliefs, I think, creates a very narrow world for you to enjoy life.

How do you feel about this topic? Do you believe that gender has a biological basis defined exclusively by chromosomes, genitalia, and internal plumbing? Or do you believe that “male” and “female” are merely socially conditioned behaviors and that gender is purely a subjective experience of identity? What are your thoughts?

MY BRILLIANT ANSWER …

Wow, Fandango. Another one of those polarizing questions. (Yes, I know that the polarizing questions make for the interesting things posted on your blog.)

Thanks for the wonderful, thought-provoking question… But I’ll pass on blogging the topic.

I am sure by choosing NOT to talk about I have probably offended as many people as I would have had I talked about it.

FYI: I love your weekly blog idea. Just because I don’t choose to participate is not relevant to enjoying the blog idea!

The First of May is a Bee Gees Song. Do you like the Bee Gees and if so, what is your favorite track?

I really didn’t follow the Bee Gees –apparently, I don’t remember any of their songs EXCEPT the ones from Saturday Night Fever. I think we did medleys of those in high school and I remember them from the radio. Other than the Saturday Night Fever songs, I didn’t remember any of them from the list on Google?

Do you still have a desire/ dream that you want to attain?

My brilliant answer …

Wow! What a great question, and very much on my mind at this point in my life.

I have been blessed. I really did write a Goals to Achieve list when I graduated high school and kept adding to the list as a college student.

It was whittled down to the SEVEN goals that were most important to me.

Before my retirement, I had completed them all.

Now, in this new chapter of my life, I am processing what are my future dreams.

Hopefully I can zero-in on the next SEVEN goals for the second half of life.

This week’s PROVOCATIVE QUESTION …

Do you believe that Joe Biden, at 82 shortly after Election Day 2024, is too old to seek that office? What about Donald Trump at 77? Most important, do you think there should be a maximum age set for an individual to run for President of the United States?

MY BRILLIANT ANSWER …

I think all presidents should have to be ‘fit’ for office. (This goes for Congressional people as well!) FIT both physically and mentally.

But there are so many people that now are in office –maybe there always was? – that are there for agenda-driven politics … and it seems that some in the medically profession have become a political arm in America.

So I don’t know that there are ‘high-ranking doctors’ that would actually tell the awkward truth that a president has to step down. The opposing political party would go out of their way to ruin the doctor’s life or attack family members to silence all debate.

So many people have these are My facts lives. A FACT is a FACT. It can’t be a YOUR FACT or a MY FACT.

People have to begin to listen to ALL SIDES of arguments. Especially the sides that are not their personal beliefs. Then, maybe… we can begin acting like a civilized society again.

As far as age… I ma not sure tht AGE is a useful guide. Idiots come from all age groups…

So far… I am an abject failure at the APRIL A-Z Challenge.

But I have a theme that I think I enjoy, So (as I often do)I think I am going to step back and reclaim the month of MAY for me to complete my challenge.

I enjoy MANY things in life. I am very happy to hop for one thing to the next from Monday to Tuesday. Having a morning task, an afternoon task, and an evening task id a comfort to me.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

Are you participating in this year’s A to Z Challenge? If not, have you participated in the past?

What do you enjoy about this Challenge in particular, and what do you think about blogging challenges in general?

MY ANSWER:

I am participating in the A-Z Challenge for 2023. I have participated in the past.

This year, I am BEHIND. The A-Z is usually held during the month of April. For me. This year, I am going to have to complete it during the month of May.

I guess I’m OK with this. I’ll have to be OK or else just not finish it. I sorta like the theme (Yes, I know sorta is not a word) that I have for the A-Z this year. I think that it is a theme I can use in my writing presentations- the Gettin’ to Know Ya section, so I want to complete the theme.

I enjoy writing challenges. They give me a starting point from which to dive.

There are so many wonderfully-perfect quotes about writing that I love to read, but that I do not have any personally-applicable feelings toward. I wish I did.

Right now, I am still wrestling with the process of writing every day.

I want to write every day. At least I think I want to write every day.

I enjoy writing. At least I think I enjoy writing.

Well… you can easily see the problem.
