“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I said perusing around the room. “This is the safe house?”
“He won’t think of looking for you here.”
“There isn’t even a fire escape.”
“That’s in our favor. There is only one way up.”
“Did you bring my laptop so I can complete the project?”
“Of, course.”
I had them. These saviors were really my wardens. I had turned in the project yesterday.
I was to leave for the rendezvous with Level Seven this morning by private jet. That’s when my security detail had been ambushed and these brave men had saved me.
Apparently, in truth, it had been a double kidnapping plan gone awry.
“Ask the maid for clean bed linen. Cleanliness is never a quality I trust these in quaint establishments.”
Immediately, my keepers did.
“Think I’ll take a short nap,” I calmly stated as I took the bed linens and headed to the back room.
Quietly clamping the door, I stripped the bed. Tying the bedsheets together, I popped the outer window… I was gone.
Written for Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers. Requirements: USing teh Photo prompt, create a 100-150 word flash story.
