You walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.
Coming home from work, running a little late (as usual) I jerk a quick left into the driveway and find myself having to slam on the brakes.
“What the world?” I say to myself.
Parked in front of my still-shuddering car is a brand spankin’ new 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. I quickly exit my quaking clunker of a Chevy pick-up and circle the shiny beast.
I was instantly in love!
But who would park such a beauty in my driveway. (Certainly, none of my friends could afford such a babe.)
With envy exuding from my every pore, I enter the house and discover yet another surprise. My charcoal black Shih Tzu is dancing on the living room sofa giving butterfly kisses to two total strangers as they are wolfing down what appears to be pieces of a German chocolate cake?
As soon as they can free themselves from my guard-dog, they both stand.
“Welcome. Excuse our intrusion. We don’t usually enter our contestant‘s homes. Your dog was acting like it was going to tear down the door as we knocked. He ran up against the frame and suddenly the door was open. When we entered to return this lovely creature to your home, we noticed a delicious German chocolate cake. Our apologies for being so bold.” They held their pieces of cake toward me.
I was stunned. To begin with, it was not the first time that my mutt had ran hard against the back door causing it to spring open. I was grateful that they were nearby to house him. But taking a man’s cake?
“I see you are still a little stunned by our appearance. I am afraid that we have not finished astounding you.” The young lady was speaking. “Do you remember filling out a Sweepstakes form at the local fair this last fall. There was to be a drawing for a new 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.”
“Congratulations. If you will honor us with your signature on these three papers, the car parked in your driveway… It is yours.”
I found myself suddenly prostrate on the kitchen floor. I was the one now being enveloped with butterfly kisses from my Shih Tzu.
