NAPOWRIMO- 2017: #15

National Poetry Writing Month- 2017

689554_calendar_512x512REQUIREMENTS: Today we were asked to write a poem that reflects on the nature of being in the middle of something. The poem could be about being on a journey and stopping for a break, or the gap between something half-done and all-done. I did do a bit of a pattern; 4-6-8-10-many-10-8-6-4.

(Yes, I took some liberties with the rules…. That’s what poetry is all about?)

“Are We There Yet?” and Other Nonsense

“Are we there yet?”

“No… For the thousandth time.”

“Well, when will we be? I’m hungry.”

“Lay back and put in another movie.”

“How long are we going to stay? You know I hate it on the farm. Grandad’s always getting me to help with the milking and the calving. The good ole’ days.”

“Wants you to see what it was like for us.”

“You know, no one works like that now.”

“Where do’ya think burgers are from, son?”

“Wal-Mart’s meat’s packaging?”

I'd love to hear from you. It's nice to know other people are out there.
