The Sons of Katie Elder

The Sons of Katie Elder

Katie Elder’s four sons show up for her funeral. The boys had not seen their mother in a long time.

John Elder (John Wayne), the oldest, is a renowned gunslinger. Tom (Dean Martin) is a professional gambler. Bud is an unsuccessful hardware salesman. And Matt, the youngest, is in school.

The boys have been a disappointment to their mother- according to the townsfolk, but their mother never said a bad word about any of them.

The brothers are surprised that their mother no longer owns the family ranch. They discover that their father ‘lost’ the ranch in a poker game. The same night the ranch was ‘gone’… the father is murdered, Shot in the back.

Morgan Hastings, the new owner of the Elder ranch, seems to be a little underhanded to the brothers.

A fun western to watch!!

Playing with Fire

Playing with Fire

Yes, John Cena was the sole reason I picked this film to watch.

John Cena, world renowned WWE wrestler, stars as Superintendent Jake Carson, a smokejumper in the wildernesses of California.

Carson’s crew rescue three children who were staying along at a cabin during a blaze. Their parent are away. The smokejumping crew decides to chaperone them until the children’s parents arrive back home.

The plot is loosely lackadaisical, but the unique characters of the crew of Superintendent Jake Carson is entertaining.

Being in charge of children is not the forte of Superintendent Jake Carson. He is used to giving orders and the orders being followed- never being questioned.

With the children…. Everything becomes a question.

Silly and enjoyable.

The Goes Wrong Show (BBC)

The Goes Wrong Show is a British comedy… live-theater.

If you are in to purely quirky… this one is for you.

During each of the supposedly serious plays, an assortment of theatrical catastrophes happen- one right after the other.

There is much humor… sometimes approaching humor to the absurd.

There are only a few episodes, but if you enjoy stupid funny… You will enjoy this one.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (My Two Favorite Characters)

What better way to end and begin a New Year than relaxing and enjoying a StarWars marathon.

This time, as I watched these classics, I began noticing the wide array of character personalities that George Lucas created for his acclaimed series.

Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son

This is a relatively new crime/drama centering on the tattered lives of the Bright family.

Martin Whitly, the renowned serial killer known as “The Surgeon”, is serving time for crimes committed. He was turned in to the police by his son, Malcolm. Malcolm was just a boy when he told the police about the killings committed by his dad.

The Whitly family were a very well-to-do family, not only because of the status of Mr. Whitly’s occupation, but because of the societal status of his wife.

The Whitly’s had two children. Malcolm- who has changed is last name to Bright- had worked as a profiler for ten years with the FBI. He was tasked with hunting serial killers. Malcolm now is a consultant for the NYPD.

The Whitly family’s daughter, Ainsley, is now an investigative reporter.

The father, Martin, is incarcerated in an asylum. He was found guilty of committing (at least) twenty-three murders.

The mother, Jessica, is an alcoholic still seeking to regain her former position in high society.

While the totality of the themes of each of the episodes is the unthinkable, I enjoy watching the characters in the story attempting to redeem “life” that was forever altered by their relationship with “The Surgeon”.

Knotted rope ladders were constructed to allow the needed access from the huts to the forest’s ground.
  9. The Ewoks spiritual leader was seen as a ‘medicine man’.
  10. Ewoks enjoyed playing music and singing in their celebrations and spiritual rituals.

Walker

Walker

A New Show on CW. (A Remake!)

The new Walker is no Chuck Norris, but after a few episodes, I am enjoying the show.

Cordell Walker has just returned to his family after a long undercover assignment. He has been given a new partner, Micki Ramirez, who is a by-the-book Ranger.

Walker’s 16-year-old daughter, Stella, and his 14-year-old son, August, are NEW family members to Walker- he has been away that long!

Walker is still coming to terms with the murder of his wife, Emily, even though that happened over a year ago. That was the reason he chose the undercover work.

Each new episode allows Walker and Ramirez to solve a mini-crisis in their small town.

No way would I give this show an “A” for entertaining, but if you want to see behind-the-scenes (in a very amusing and quirky way) the life of magistrates in the court system of Wales… it’s worth a watch.

Legal drama based in a magistrates’ court in Wales.

Each episode deals with a different courtroom drama: car accidents, malicious wounding, manslaughter, abuse of animals …
