National Name Your Car Day

During the month of October I will be purposefully trying to celebrate MORE OFTEN. I am a middle school teacher (or a former middle school teacher) and I would like to find something to celebrate (great-or-small) every single week. I still do.

This month I will be blogging about different ways you can celebrate EVERY DAY for the month of OCTOBER.

I will send the weekly list in advance … so you can PLAN to ENJOY THE CELEBRATIONS with me!

Today’s Celebration

October 2: National Name Your Car Day

Have you ever named your car, (or truck… or motorcycle… or bicycle)?

When I was younger, all my ‘vehicles’ received well-deserved names.

Until I stumbled upon Famous Holidays for October 2l National Name Your Car Day, I had not realized that my present truck did not have a name.

After much deliberation, In fact, I have spent an entire trip to the park thinking about it!) I have decided that the name of my truck, from this day forth, is SNOWBALL.

A NOTE (If you care?): For yesterday’s National Homemade Cookie Day, I baked Chocolate Chip cookies.

Happy Celebration!

Today’s Celebration

October 1: National Homemade Cookie Day

Didn’t you just love walking through the house on the days that Mom (and sometimes we helped) decided it was a cookie-baking day!

The smells were intoxicating!

Sometime this week… (It doesn’t HAVE to be today, but plan for it!) … make a small batch of cookies.

I had a hard time deciding between chocolate chip, oatmeal, snickerdoodles, or peanut butter cookies. I think Chocolate chip is going to win.

Happy Celebration!

My public library had just acquired this as a new listing. I checked it out, and I loved it!

I have just started to hone my skills with the slowcooker, and this recipe book is a treasure!

Once I found myself at tryng to copy the seventh recipe from the book, and I was nowhere close to having read the compltete listings, I ordered the book for myself.

COOKING MADE EASY: 9

While stumbling through Google the other day, I fell upon these videos.

I am NOT a connoisseur-type chef. My specialties are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Deli meats, and microwavables.

I do have a crock pot, and I have a few recipes that I have been successful at preparing.

The Simplified Saver Cooking Blog looked not only easy to do, but they looked very tasty.

Here’s the catch… I hate eating things when I don’t know ahead of time what they taste like. (Yes, I’m a baby. … I’ve heard it all before. … Water off a duck’s back.)

If, during quarantine, any one you have the ingredients available, and are so inclined, to test out a few of these delicious-looking treats, drop me a line.

I don’t think that I will attempt any of them until after quarantine.

New foods to me, stressful you see. (You thought I was a baby. … Really, I’m like a wise, but ever-compassionate Yoda.)

FYI: I’ll probably drop one of these each week, just seeking a helpful connoisseur.)

Telomeres

The longer your telomeres the longer and healthier your life can be expected to be.

  • A diet of more fruits and veggies
  • Enjoying whole grains and plants
  • Exercising moderately
  • Three times a week is as good as training for a marathon for your telomeres.
  • Not smoking
  • Reducing stress levels
  • Getting quality sleep
  • A meditative lifestyle

Here are three lectures from Nobel Prize Researcher Elizabeth Blackburn. She, and two other researchers, made the telomeres discoveries.
