Week #4- National Card Playing Week

National Card Playing Day is on December 28th, but I think that is a great week to enjoy conversation with friends around a rousing game of UNO, or RUMMY, or CANASTA. My favorite is PHASE-10.

I bet you know what to do with this one. National Sundae Day is on November 11th, but I think this one should last ALL WEEK LONG!

Week #3- World Kindness Week

The world can never get enough KINDNESS!

Week #4- National Pizza Week

Here’s another “day celebration” that should last more than one day! National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day (Nov. 12th)

Week #1- National Novel Writing Month

I have been doing something for National Novel Writing Month for over 15 years. Each year I plan a different project for the month. Some years, I was not in the ‘writing groove’ so I picked a special author to read for the month.

Week #2- National Carry a Tune Week

Check your shelves for some of those old cds (cassettes or 8-tracks) that you have not listened to in forever. Enjoy yourself!

Week #3- A Great Week to Be in the Kitchen

International Chef Day is October 20th. Find yourself a new recipe to try this week, or grab one of your oldies-but-goodies that you haven’t had in a while and stir-up-a-storm.

Week #4- Have a Few Pasta Meals

World Pasta Day is October 25th. National Breadstick Day is the 28th. Combine them and enjoy a great meal!

Week #1- Old Fashioned Remembering Week

(Yes, I made this one up!) There are soooo many to chose from this week! Have a night out bowling with a friend or two for U.S. Bowling League Day (Sept. 3rd). You will enjoy the Country Music that the bowling alley will be playing for International Country Music Day (Sept. 2nd). Bring your friends back home and dig intot he freezer for that store-bought Coconut Cake you have just been waiting for an excuse to sclice for World Coconut Day (Sept. 2nd). After your friends leave, drop a note (YES, A SNAIL MAIL NOTE) to a frind that wan’t able to come along and brag about your great bowling score for World Letter Writing Day (Sept. 1st).

Week #2- National Biscuit and Gravy Week

I will be looking forward to this special week the WHOLE year!

Week #3- National Indoor Plant Week  

It’s time to start thinking about bringing nature indoors. Visit a few garden centers and discover some easy-to-care-for INDOOR plants you might want to invest in for this fall. After a morning of garden center tours, stop off and celebrate National Ice Cream Cone Day (Sept. 22nd).

Week #4- National Fall Foliage Week

Check out your local tourism center and find a short hiking trail or two, Enjoy the fall foliage. (Keep a new habit going- TAKE YOUR CAMERA!)

Celebrate National Watermelon Day (August 3rd) and National Water Balloon Day (August 5th) this week.

Week #2- Backyard Week #2

Combine Global Sleep under the Stars Night (August 8th) and National Book Lovers Day (August 9th) and enjoy an evening or reading under the stars. Bet it’s been a long time since you did that! Remember to take a flashlight or a small lantern. (And maybe a can of bug spray?)

Week #3- Take a Hike for World Photography Day

(Yes, I know that this is another camera celebration. I’m into forming habits this year.) World Photography Day (August 19th) After all long day of capturing some great pictures, enjoy a baked potato for National Potato Day (August 19th)

Week #4- Banana Split Week

The year can’t go by without celebrating National Banana Split Day (August 25th).

Week #5- National Eat Outside Day (August 31st

When’s the last time you had a s’mores? Enjoy National Toasted Marshmallow Day (August 30th). If you can’t have a campfire… Sneak out a candle!

Week #1- National Picnic Month (The First One)

Invite a friend or two and enjoy a picnic. Combine National Fried Chicken Day (July 6th) and National Freezer Pop Day (July 8th). Can’t beat a supper with fried chicken. Be sure to remember the fries!

Week #2- National Picnic Month (The Second One)

Invite a few more friends and enjoy another picnic. Grill out for National Hot Dog Day (June 20th) Go all out and enjoy them with all the fixin’s!

Week #3- National Picnic Month (The Third One)

Did you know there are never too many days of the week to celebrate National Ice Cream Day (July 17th)?

Week #4- National Picnic Month (The Fourth One)

I’d be OK if July would last nine or ten weeks… A man can’t have enough picnics!

This week, if you want a repeat of Hot Day, go for it. National Chili Dog Day is on August 28th. If you are in the mood from something a little more upscale, make lasagna (or grab it from a great restaurant) and get a salad. National Lasagna Day is the last Thursday in July.

Week #1- National Gardening Week

Have fun enjoying your flowers this week. Maybe take in a game of croquet or horseshoes while you’re outside. (National Gardening Exercise Day is on June 6th.)

Week #2- June 10 National Movie Night

First, visit the grocery store for some easy-to-bake cookies. Then, check your shelves, or Netflix, or Prime, or Disney a grab a movie. Then head to the refrigerator and grab a chilled glass of your favorite beverage- National Iced Tea Day (10th) – and enjoy the night. If you bake enough cookies- National Peanut Butter Cookie Day (12th) – go for movie night twice this week.

Week #3- June 15 Nature Photography Day

Plans are for a beautiful week (but I am not a weatherman, so don’t hold me to it). Check the batteries in your camera and head outside. Have a blast.

Week #4- June 29 National Camera Day

I am sure you had so much fun last week that it should be a no-brainer…. Visit another park and do it again!

Week #1- National Fitness Day (May 7th)

Don’t give up on your daily five minute walks. If you can, up the time you spend. Trying to get at least 30 minutes of REAL sunshine a day (not sunburn!) always makes me feel better.

Week #2- National Etiquette Week

You have wondered ‘Where are the manners in today’s world?’ Seek out learning something new. Did you know that there are Rules to Proper Etiquette on ZOOM? Hold the door for the person behind you. Say ‘Thank you’ more times than usual this week.

Week #3- National Miniature Golf Day (May 14th)

Grab a friend and visit a local Mini-Golf Playground. What a fun way to get your 30 minutes of sunshine!

Week #4- National Hamburger Day (May 28th)

Spend an evening on the patio grilling burgers… or dogs… or steak… or kabobs…

Week #5- National SMILE Day (May 31st)

See how many people you can smile at today and greet a ‘Good Morning’.

Have a movie night. (You have to plan for those April showers!) Enjoy a pizza one night this week. Go all in… Maybe TWO nights!

Week #3- National Caramel Popcorn Day (April 6th)

Week #4- Sky Awareness Week

Change it up a little. Enjoy an evening watching the sunset (National Picnic Day April 22nd) Before you go, check out a Sky Atlas to see what might be in the skies later that evening. Then spend some time star-gazing.
