National Sausage Pizza Day

During the month of October I will be purposefully trying to celebrate MORE OFTEN. I am a middle school teacher (or a former middle school teacher) and I would like to find something to celebrate (great-or-small) every single week. I still do.

This month I will be blogging about different ways you can celebrate EVERY DAY for the month of OCTOBER.

I will send the weekly list in advance … so you can PLAN to ENJOY THE CELEBRATIONS with me!

Today’s Celebration

National Cake Decorating Day

One of my favorite desserts…. CUPCAKES!

I freely acknowledge, I must be one of the densest people on the face of the earth.

I only decorate birthday cupcakes, and I used to find that difficult.

I would pinch-drop my sprinkles on my cupcakes… and I would have a mess!

Now with these two pictures… DUH!

Bake yourself a few cupcakes today… and add some sprinkles!

Happy Celebration!

If it is a beautiful day where you are residing, get out and enjoy a trip through nature or visit a local historical site.

If you are stuck inside (for any of a variety of reasons) here is a museum (virtual tour) I am betting you have never visited- The National Museum of the United States Air Force.

Happy Celebration!

Today’s Celebration

Squirrel Awareness Month

I have three squirrels that like to frolic and play in my backyard.

They each must have a bit-of-a dangerous bad-boy streak in them because my backyard is also the neighborhood stomping grounds for five rogue cats.

So far, the squirrels have won all of the encounters?

National Noodle Day

Dinner at the Zoo

I was so excited about National Noodle Day …. Because I LOVE SPAGHETTI!

But then I asked Google…. “Is spaghetti a noodle?”

Much to my chagrin, while spaghetti is a pasta and a noodle is a pasta, a spaghetti is not a noodle!!!

Disappointment heaped upon disappointment.

So today, I am going to celebrate National Noodle Day by finding a new NOODLE recipe to try.

(If you have any suggestions, let me know the website!)

Happy Celebration!

Today’s Celebration

National Be Nice Day

  • Purposefully think about smiling (maybe even a kind nod of your head) more often as you pass strangers.
  • If you walk during the day, when you pass someone, or another passes you, do more than just nod your head or a small hello wave, actually say good morning (or whatever would be appropriate for that time of day).
  • Hold the door open for an older person (or even a younger one).

You can probable be even more creative than these!

Happy Celebration!

Today’s Celebration

National Unity Day

Today’s celebration is actually a German holiday.

On today, October 3, 1990, the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic were joined into a single country.

On today, enjoy celebrating today with the country of Germany.

In Germany, this celebration lasts for THREE DAYS!

The major cities (and many of the smaller ones) host live concerts, community fairs, and (of course) the Oktoberfest beer festival is at this time.

I am going to be enjoying my beverage of choice (which is now WATER) and with a concert or a play online. (Or maybe one of each.)

Here are two website that will assist you in your viewing pleasure:

Concerts

Theater Plays

(Scroll down the lists. There are MANY options. I suspect you will find something to enjoy!)

Happy Celebration!

October 2: National Name Your Car Day

Have you ever named your car, (or truck… or motorcycle… or bicycle)?

When I was younger, all my ‘vehicles’ received well-deserved names.

Until I stumbled upon Famous Holidays for October 2l National Name Your Car Day, I had not realized that my present truck did not have a name.

After much deliberation, In fact, I have spent an entire trip to the park thinking about it!) I have decided that the name of my truck, from this day forth, is SNOWBALL.

A NOTE (If you care?): For yesterday’s National Homemade Cookie Day, I baked Chocolate Chip cookies.

Happy Celebration!

Today’s Celebration

October 1: National Homemade Cookie Day

Didn’t you just love walking through the house on the days that Mom (and sometimes we helped) decided it was a cookie-baking day!

The smells were intoxicating!

Sometime this week… (It doesn’t HAVE to be today, but plan for it!) … make a small batch of cookies.

I had a hard time deciding between chocolate chip, oatmeal, snickerdoodles, or peanut butter cookies. I think Chocolate chip is going to win.

Happy Celebration!
