THE LITERARY MOUSE
Are you a lover of the digital library?
I truly do LOVE the internet for the quick and easy access to research and data. (Of course, being aware of whose facts are being disseminated across the web is a very necessary skill! But possessing that skill is really no different than if one were getting the same information from a pamphlet or a text … Who wrote it? What is their bias?)
I hate the internet for to damage it is causing to the love of reading.
A digital book IS NOT A BOOK!
I could rant and rave until the beginning of infinity for the smell of the print, the touch of the page, the inherit pleasure of delicately opening and closing the cover of a precious novel gingerly taken from your bookshelf to be read for the seventeen or twentieth time.
Flippantly whisking with the Kindle mouse, your finger (the nose-picking finger, no less), to advance the digital world of a classic is literary heresy.
Enough said.
Written for DAILY ADDICTIONS: MOUSE.
On the other hand my bookshelves are full and I had books stacked up on the floor so without my Kindle I wouldn’t be reading at all – no more room 😦
