A MEDICAL ANOMALY
With boys, everything is a competition.
The oldest one just went to the phlebotomist at the local clinic to give blood.
This has become a monthly task for the set of them.
“How long does this usually take?” Howard asked inquisitively. “Is there a record for giving a unit of blood?”
The nurses looked at each other and winked. They knew a sucker when they saw one. “Under five minutes per unit is a good time,” the older one stated.
“Under four minutes would record-breaking for me,” chimed in the younger.
“Do you have a squeeze ball?” inquired Howard. “I’ll shoot for three minutes and something.”
The needle was inserted…
The timer was started…
Long story short- in three minutes and thirty-one seconds, the unit was tagged and shelved.
Howard was a winner again.
