Chief Inspector Gamache, Louise Penny’s unforgettable detective, is having a recuperative sabbatical with his former mentor, Emile Comeau during Quebec City’s Winter Carnival.

During Gamanche’s visit he continues his research on the Battle of the Plains of Abraham at the Literary and Historical Society’s library.

As usual in Penny’s novels… murder follows the Chief Inspector. An eccentric historical archaeologist is found bludgeoned in the library’s basement.

A great read!
