A PAIR OF PANTS

Why is it when you go to purchase trousers you have to talk about a pair of pants? There is only one garment- not two. Are you really purchasing a pair of pants’ legs sewn together? Where did that expression originate?

After Googling….

Originally, pantaloons WERE IN TWO PIECES! I found this as a fact in Google- but I found NOT A SINGLE image to back up the claim? Huh???
