Facts about Home on the Range
- It is the ‘unofficial anthem” on the Old West.
- It was written by Dr. Brewster M. Higley of Smith County, Kansas, in a poem entitled “My Western Home” in 1872 … but probably made famous by Gene Autry.
- It is the state song of Kansas.
- The Western Writers of America voted it as one of the Top 100 western songs of all time.
FYI: Now, instead of my home being on the range, my range usually only encompasses my home.
