NAPOWRIMO- 2017: #16

National Poetry Writing Month- 2017

REQUIREMENTS: Today we were asked to write a poem in the form of a letter to a person, place, or thing, or in the form of a back-and-forth correspondence.

(Yes, I took some liberties with the rules…. That’s what poetry is all about?)

The Pain of Goodbyes

The home place seems destitute without them.

The necessary adventures of exploring the nooks and crannies

A FOR SALE sign awaits

Comic books and Tonka trucks of yesteryear

Harborers of memories long ago forgotten

My, how you have been missed.

The late nights of sneaking up the stairs for a snack.

College group all-nighters in front of my wood stove.

S’mores, for some… BBQ chips and a Dew for you.

What will family mean for me now?

Written for The National Poetry Writing Month- 2017.

I'd love to hear from you. It's nice to know other people are out there.
