FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PRACTITIONER- 2017
“It’s my fault.” My brother Manuel continued to stare between the barbed strains.
“Why is it your fault?” There was an undeserved kindness in Mama’s eyes. She just didn’t know it yet.
“I’m the one who taught him.”
Mama knelt; now eye to eye. “From the beginning, please.”
She was always like that. Even in the most stress-filled situations, she could find time for each of us.
“It’s not me that needs you.” I stammered. “It’s Waldo.”
“Where’s Waldo?” she grinned.
“It’s not a joke, Mama. He’s in the minefield. We were playing catch. I threw the Frisbee too far.”
