NAPOWRIMO- 2017: #9

National Poetry Writing Month- 2017

REQUIREMENTS: Because today is the ninth day of NaPoWriMo, we were asked to write a nine-line poem. I decided to use the pattern found in a Magic 9.  Its pattern is a. b. a. c. a. d. a. b. a. It has no specified meter.

Ahab Has Whales. I Have Bees.

Warm weather waits with the gentle breeze

I rest… content to reflect on the day’s endeavor

Relaxing with Clara, my pudge-nosed boxer and sweet teas

I turn the page… anticipate reentering Ahab’s eternal struggle

Flipping page after page, the chase unfolds with ease

The soothing drone all-a-flitter… melittology, my passion

Echoes of struggles, Ahab and Moby. Me and my bees

Clara naps, content. Her weekend adventures so clever

Me… Another blob of my honey on biscuit. I’m so easy to please.

Written for The National Poetry Writing Month- 2017.
