A Reflection of Me

Nine-to-five was never enough

His schedule was 3:30 or 4 in the morning

It wasn’t that his passion was for work

His passion was for us… providing

From painting barn roofs to farming, car maintenance and mower mechanics

He was a master of all things placed in his hands

Then arriving late after supper, greased toes to nose

He would always find time to eavesdrop on our plans

Never was rare one-to-one involvement. That was just not him.

But he knew my every game outcome and every personal gem

Now, laid-to-rest when I see him to speak and commiserate

It is I, the shy-one’s double, who often comes in way too late.
