REQUIREMENTS: We were asked to write an ELEGY for a loved one using poetic license.

AN ELEGY for a LOVED ONE

from sunup to sundown

purposefully driven to gift us

with all the things you never had as a child

needs were always met unquestioningly

but every now and then we’d ask for the moon

and you’d always say

“If frogs had wings they wouldn’t bump their butts.”

Written for The National Poetry Writing Month- 2017.
