5K in Three Days
What a time for Mother Nature to lose her cool… or keep her cool.
For the previous two weeks, walking has been awesome. Fifty-seven degrees (plus) and all is well. Spring seemed to have decided to appear almost a month early.
For the last week, the temperature has been at freezing or below. And this last weekend… TEN INCHES of snow!
Reasons to Do a 5K when the Temperature Is in the Thirties:
- Yes, I want to continue walking.
- Yes, it would be a great way to meet new people now that the nest is empty.
- Yes, I know it is good for my health.
- Yes, I do sleep great each night after two or miles are logged.
- Yes, I know it is a great way to relieve stress.
- Yes, being one with nature is a plus!
More Sane Reasons:
Yes, I want to continue walking.I have a true desire to walk. I have nothing to prove by freezing off my behind. Yes, it would be a great way to meet new people now that the nest is empty.Personally, I prefer an empty nest with a fireplace! Yes, I know it is good for my health.Catching pneumonia is not healthy. Yes, I do sleep great each night after two or miles are logged.I would need several quilts to warm my frozen old bones. Yes, I know it is a great way to relieve stress.Should I shake from stress or shake from a low-core body temperature…DuH! Yes, being one with nature is a plus!Winter looks better on a Christmas card!
What I Plan to Do: Follow My Instincts!
The temperature is supposed to return to more humane conditions by noon on Saturday. I think that I will sign-in for my packet… Give thanks to the brave sponsors… And walk my 5K after the sun warms the world.
Yes, my instincts tell me that this sounds like a grand plan!
