“Are you sure the third floor balcony doors are unlocked?”
“Sofia’s maid promised.”
“You don’t have to do this, Diego.”
“You’d be here for me. Besides, with a look out, your escape’ll go unnoticed until morning.”
“By then we will be across the border. Married. Camila’s youngest brother’s a priest. He’s waiting,” Mateo chuckled. “He understands the family. If you would not have agreed to be the look out, he was going to assist.”
“I hope you know what you are doing?”
“I love her. What else…”
And with those words they were trapped by floodlights and four armed guards.
