After a long walk in the heat and not nearly enough refreshing water in your system…

After an exasperating day at work. It doesn’t necessarily go in a bad way, you have just given all that there was to give…

A chore day at the house, when as many things go wrong as go right- the proverbial one step forward, two steps back…

When life deals your every card for a Royal Flesh, but you miss the Ace…

Chasing your tail all day, but never quite catching it….

Sometimes…. You just want to plop.

The Adventures of Belle and Sam Starr

PHOTO PROMPT -© Vijaya Sundaram

“What was he thinking? Pyrotechnics?” Belle chuckled. “Always the showman,”

Where once the streets were silent… vacant, they were now teeming with an ever-increasing bustle anxious to see the cause of this excitement.

BOOM! BLAM! The sky was enlivened with brilliant blues and iridescent yellows.

Looking to her left, Belle saw a small dust cloud radiating from the building on the corner- The Farmer’s Bank and Trust.

Holding the reins of the dun and appaloosa as they nervously pranced from the excessive noises, suddenly Sam was at her side.

“Is there a celebration to be had?” and they were off.

Necessities, Once Frivolous

With a look of stern consternation, Margaret stared at the bowls as she carefully winnowed the weevils from the grains.

Having finished the bowl in its entirety, she tactfully, and unobtrusively, tossed the pests upon the open flames.

With a pop and a sear, they was vanquished.

Evelyn turned a blind eye to the reprehensible sounds.

Margaret had been with her since before she had married Winston. Now, with the passing of Winston, and the asperity brought on by the horrific collections revealed in his death, Margaret was all that truly remained as her fortress.

Unabashed, Evelyn joined Margaret at the ovens. The first loaves were needing to be removed from the fires and greased.

As teens, on a whim, the girls had become renown in their small town as exquisite bakers.

Necessity was requiring them to renew their once frivolous undertakings for survival.

How do you celebrate a birthday?

Me….. I go all out for my favorite comfort foods!

I used to go out for a delicious steak meal… Now, I have discovered that for the price of that ONE steak meal, I can have my favorite steak meal THREE TIMES!

One carefully seared steak fillet, deliciously seasoned… served with a huge helping of fries flavored with sea salt. An ice-chilled glass of  Mountain Dew would complete my meal. Simple, yet magnificent.

Dessert… A banana split. Peaked with three vanilla soft-serve pyramids topping the banana. One pyramid covered in chocolate syrup. One with strawberry, One wiht pineapple. Then, of course, you must have a sprinkling of walnuts and coconut flakes.

Until today’s post… I had forgotten the cake!!!!

I am not a cake person. I prefer fruit pies….

But for my birthday… A slice of German Chocolate Cake… Or Red-Velvet Cake… Or Cheesecake with caramel drizzle… Or a Carrot Cake with a French vanilla icing…What the heck!!! Why not all FOUR!

Birthdays are for celebrations. By the time you are my age… a birthday celebration needs to last for at least a week!!!

I think  at 60-years-of-age…. there ought to be Birth Month celebrations… not just a birthday!!!!

The Wedding: Simply Eccentric

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Iain Kelly.

“There… At the double bridges…”

“I see them.”

“I suppose the whirling of the blades spooked them.”

“Are you kidding? Didn’t you see Barron light the fireworks? He said he was going to send Tiffany off with a bang.”

“Thank God, she and Ross were not on the stallions!”

“Don’t go any lower.”

“If we could only nudge them toward Central Park. That would be so much safer than the bypasses.”

“Doesn’t matter… Traffic’s at a standstill. Mayor’s orders. Block all seventeen blocks.”

“I know that millionaires and billionaires are eccentric, but leaving the church to ride to the airport on snow-white Arabians…. Now that’s got to be a first.”

“It was a beautiful ceremony. Hard to believe, just like her step-mother Melania, Tiffany doesn’t need a $20,000 gown. She was gorgeous in a gown of her own $200 design. They said it, and fourteen other classic designs, are showing with a designer in Vogue.”

“Let’s radio in that we found them. I’m sure the newlyweds have already jetted to The Isles by now.”
