On March 15, 1966, Roger Miller won SIX GRAMMY AWARDS for the song and album including King of the Road. This one was one of my favorites when I was little. (I would have been around seven.) I suspect it was because I could sing the word cigarettes at the top of my lungs and get away with it?
Still makes me smile when I hear it… I can still hear myself running around the outside of my house … voice a blasting….Mother a cringing???
Written for Reminiscing the Arts: March 15th.
I loved this guy and this song as a kid, too.

Thanks for the memory . . . and the earworm.

1966 – I wasn’t even a blip on the radar – would take 2 more years …. but I do remember in the early 70’s (by the time I was 2 and very vocal) I was more than happy to belt this out – full lung capacity. *snorting* … all these years later and it’s still a great song – thanks for the memories 🙂
