Roger Miller on March 15th

On March 15, 1966, Roger Miller won SIX GRAMMY AWARDS for the song and album including King of the Road. This one was one of my favorites when I was little. (I would have been around seven.) I suspect it was because I could sing the word cigarettes at the top of my lungs and get away with it?

Still makes me smile when I hear it… I can still hear myself running around the outside of my house … voice a blasting….Mother a cringing???

  1. 1966 – I wasn’t even a blip on the radar – would take 2 more years …. but I do remember in the early 70’s (by the time I was 2 and very vocal) I was more than happy to belt this out – full lung capacity. *snorting* … all these years later and it’s still a great song – thanks for the memories 🙂
