Enflamed Passions
“Commander, the flows are getting worse. They were right, the spewing has stopped, but there does not seem to be the awaited for dispensation of the internal forces deep within the mantle. I think this in is the big one.”
“We’ve seen worse. Send orders to bulldoze the creases to send the flow into the Pacific. If we don’t alter the current flow, the next two subdivisions are gone.We will never save the upper dwellings.”
“The activists… They have already threatened a suit if we redirect the flow.”
“Protesters… I get an earful of that at home. No plastic rings around the pop cans. The stinking compost cans by the kitchen sink. Seven different recycling bins- God forbid if I mix my #2: High Density Polyethylene with my #5: Polypropylene. The constant bombardment of the ring of fire questioning is nothing new to me.”
“The little woman…”
“My wife, my son, both daughters… they have even converted my parents. It’s a blasted cult! “
“Well, at the next briefing… it’s all yours.”
“Let them have at it. If they live to tell about this one, they’ll have me to thank.”

Interesting story. Yes, some people don’t want to make the effort to recycle. But it is so important, even if it is annoying at times.

Love your sideways take on the prompt. It’s obviously a topic very close to his heart. Great stuff!

It was the only thing that came to my mind! I would dive into flames to save a guitar… Didn’t want to write about that…

Maybe the fact that everyone else in his family has converted to a more environmentally friendly approach should tell him it’s something worth thinking about! Good story. 🙂
