The Road Less Traveled
Pinpoint a moment in your past where you had to make a big decision. Write about that other alternate life that could have unfolded.
Elementary School Teacher or County Music Star
When did I say “No” to becoming a star?
Was there a moment in time, that if I sit and reminisce enough, I could find that my irrepressible urge to sing was suddenly overtaken by the immense pleasures found in teaching… eclipsing the doldrums of the day?
Suddenly, the writing of lesson plans, in the hopes of unleashing ‘light bulb moments’ in innocuous children’s minds, completed a victory lap in the race for my future.
When was that day?
Total victory has never been complete…
Just ask my next-door neighbor’s when they are playing horseshoes in their backyard as I am taking a shower????

I’m surprised you aren’t out there playing horseshoes with them instead of taking a shower. 🙂

Teaching kids can be rough some days, I also am an elementary school teacher. It’s real though. A lot of people are living fantasies whereas we can say we’re making a difference in kids’ lives.

I see the headline now, Teacher Exchanges Teaching Hat for Cowboy Hat. He becomes an instant County Music Star in Nashville, sings only the oldies.
