Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in the bathroom? Why?
Am I comfortable speaking in front of people?
I need to answer that question on more than one level. When I was in grade school, I talked all the time. It did not matter where. In junior high and high school, I loved drama classes. The stage was a place in which I could disappear and become whoever I wanted to be.
In college, my experience on stage went much smaller. I enjoyed performing in quartets and small ensembles. Performing solo was comfortable as well. Giving a speech… not so much.
As an adult, I love ‘performing’ in front of my classes. Facilitating a great discussion where topics are led down- usually preplanned- yellow-brick roads… an awesome and exhilarating experience.
Having to speak in front of my peers… I would rather in nails!
