CAN’T STAND ME
What do you find more unbearable: watching a video of yourself, or listening to a recording of your voice? Why?
Mr. (or Ms.) Daily Prompt, you gave an easy prompt to answer today!
I HATE seeing myself in pictures. I UTTERLY DETEST seeing myself in videos.
I do not mind hearing my own voice. I enjoy reading. I enjoy reading aloud. I guess that this is a good thing for a teacher to enjoy- especially since I am a Language Arts teacher.
I enjoy the dramatic side of oral readings… whisper means whisper and YELL means YELL!
One of my favorite books to read as a read aloud to my classes was (is) There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom (written by Louis Sachar). In this book, Bradley ( a bit of a misunderstood misfit in fifth grade) still talks to his pet animals. It was a BLAST to make up voices for all of the animals! (If you have not read this book, it is a must read! It is hilarious!!!)
Being a bit of a show-off, I guess the creativity of voices entices me to try new things. The video is never as trustworthy at showing my best side. (That might be because I truly do not have a great side for a video… but that is another story!)

I enjoy seeing myself in pictures; hearing my voice on a recording sounds weird to me…
