THE FAREWELL KISS
When we kissed farewell for the last time, we had just learned I was with child. After trying to have a child for three years, suddenly, it happened. And then unexpectedly, his Guard regiment was assigned a tour of duty.
The excitement about the baby. The honor to be called to serve. How little we knew of the future.
I visit with Marcus each month’s first Thursday; the day we said our last goodbye. I still remember the love in his eyes as he kissed me. The solemn composure of his face as he walked away to join his battalion.

It’s honorable to shoot at people and abandon your family.

Your great story describes thousands of young couples, and their lives in this past 20 years of Gulf Wars and other insanity. Thanks
