“The fields are beautiful. Daddy.”

“Yes, they are.”

“They are superbly well-kept and the harvest looks bountiful.”

“It should be a prosperous business for you and David.”

“It is far more than we could have dreamed, Daddy.”

“Anything for you, dear.”

“The magnificent manor on the hill… It is wonderful. David and I would love living here.”

“I knew you’d like it, dear.”

“You do too much for me, Daddy.”

“Anything you want. I have always said, ‘Anything you want.’“

“I know, Daddy. But you don’t always listen real good.”

“Why sweetie?”

“I don’t like grapes, Daddy. I love apples.”

  1. I love that last line! Daddy dearest needs to listen to his daughter a little more, rather than just throwing his money around! Reading a little more into it, I wonder whether he was always a father who expressed his love through gifts rather than time and attention…? Great story. 🙂

  2. Well’ there is no doubt that daddy loves her daughter. Perhaps, his extreme love and passion for her daughter is depicted in a way in which he chooses “grapes” for her.
    Nice story 🙂
