Twenty-five years ago Aldan and I made an unbreakable oath to marry one of the three of you: we both did.

We wrote our pact on handmade parchment we crafted from the day-care center and sailed it off into the beyond on Rebecca’s Popsicle raft; it was the only one that actually would float.

Five years ago we found out that Aldan had only months; we reunited for our last weekend.

Briena brought her husband, so that made six; tears and new promises flowed freely.

We are five again; Aldan’s ashes are now frolicking with the dolphins we loved so much as children.
