DAY 14

WRITING PROMPT: Write a poem about a real or imaginary brother or sister.  Or write a story about someone who shows up at your character’s house claiming to be a brother/sister your character never knew about.  Your character thinks the person is lying, but why?

“She’s sitting in the living room and she claims to be your sister.”

“Well, she knew things about your Dad that only someone very, very close to the family should have known.”

“Scallywag… Swindler… Charlatan… Fraud!”

“Are you though with your vocabulary lesson. Can we sit and talk before we have to go back in a face her.”

“What is she doing now?”

“Martha is getting her a tea. Martha will stay there with her. She has been with us since we were young. She’ll know what has a ring of truth about it.”

“It’s going to take more than a ring of truth before I ever call that flamboozling hussy a sister of mine.”

“More vocabulary, Jonas. You don’t even know her.”

“I don’t want to get to know her, either!”

“We might not have a choice.”

“Of course we have a choice. Call Albert at the law firm’s office. You should have called him instead of me. He’ll set her straight.

“Honey, she is here with Alfred.”
