The crew of the Angel Flame received orders to head out.
“Full steam ahead!” bellowed the Captain Angler.
“But we’ve haven’t even gotten to the base for our shore leave,” whined Ensign Morris. “We have been at sea for seven months. I need my shore leave.”
“Hush, you goat. It’s all your fault anyway.”
“But I didn’t mean to lose it.”
“My question is… How do you lose a goldfish?” inquired the very irritated Lieutenant. “What did you think would happen when you released Goldie through the torpedo tubes for a free-swim? A FREE SWIM? “
“I wasn’t thinking. Too much swill from the night before. I was sure I heard her say that she needed more air.”
“Goldie was talking to you? Goldie wanted more air? ”
“I told you… Too much swill.”
“Stop that infernal racket!” It was Captain Angler on all-call again. “I will not grant shore leave until we find my Goldie!”
There was a silent moan heard across the entire ship.
“How the devil are we supposed to find one solitary goldfish swimming in the middle of the Pacific?” was the thought on every sailor’s mind.

That’s quite the task they have ahead of them! I love the image of firing poor goldie out through the torpedo tube 🙂

Poor Goldie is already probably fish food (that is if she made it out the torpedo shoot alive). LOL

I think that would be the sailor’s equivalent of looking for a needle in a haystack 😀
