WEEK #8

  • Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)
  • What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500? Why?
  • If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?
  • Where do you eat breakfast?

Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)

Sorry, can’t do this one. I really don’t have a favorite post?

What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500? Why?

My most enjoyable way to spend $500 would be on sporting events. I would buy season tickets to the spring college baseball games, the summer league games, and then MLB for my online watching. With what was left, I would try to get in a major league game and hotel and travel expenses. I am not sure $500 would cover it all, but it would come close.

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

What should be my retirement date?

Where do you eat breakfast?

Breakfast! My favorite meal! I love all types of breakfast foods. I regularly go –one day each month- to an all-you-can-eat breakfast bar and enjoy ALL-I-CAN-EAT. You name the breakfast food. I could have it for supper times- and I probably do. I also enjoy the pleasure of a one-day-a-week breakfast at HARDEE’s. I love their fresh biscuits. (I can make biscuits and gravy almost as good as HARDEE’s, but enjoy not having to do so on one day each week.

WEEK #7

  • Is the paper money in your possession right now organized sequentially according to denomination and with the bills right side up and facing the same way?
  • What is your favorite type of dog?  (can be anything from a specific breed, a stuffed animal or character in a movie)
  • If money was not an issue, would you go on a cruise?  If so where would you go?
  • Would you dare to sleep in haunted house overnight?

Is the paper money in your possession right now organized sequentially according to denomination and with the bills right side up and facing the same way?

The paper money in my wallet at the present time is organized sequentially and probably all facing the same direction. I just went to the bank. After a trip or two of spending money- it is organized as it used. I follow the fold and stuff principal of money laundering.

What is your favorite type of dog?  (can be anything from a specific breed, a stuffed animal or character in a movie)

My favorite dog- right now- is my very own Shih Tzu. He is all I want in a house guest at the present. I am now solely a dog lover. I can like cats too. My next pet will likely be a cat.

If money was not an issue, would you go on a cruise?  If so where would you go?

Just the thought of all the money I could want!!!!!! A cruise would be the last thing on my mind. Sorry Carnival Cruises and Royal Caribbean… You are not anywhere near the top of my “If I Could…” lists.

Would you dare to sleep in haunted house overnight?

I can sleep just about anywhere. Now that I have gotten older, I can sleep at just about any time. Haunted houses- if I were to believe in such a thing- no problem.

WEEK #6

  • What was the last time you went to a new place?
  • If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels, other?  And what type of genre would you prefer?
  • Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favorite?
  • If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

What was the last time you went to a new place?

The last time I went to a new place was during a trip to a Book Fair last summer. I tried to go to a farm that grows only lavender. The farm was actually only several miles south of my home place, but it did not exist as a lavender farm during my growing-up days. I have never been on a lavender farm, but I do enjoy the smells of lavender. I thought it might be interesting to see what a farm of only lavender would look like. I love growing things in my own gardens, and I do not have any lavender plants. After researching much about the lavender plant, I discovered that they came in all shapes and sizes. I thought I might get a few plants to start in my own garden. The farm was closed on the day of my visit. So I have not actually went to a lavender farm. Maybe I will go there this coming spring?

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels, other?  And what type of genre would you prefer?

I like to think of myself as a writer, but I do not – as of yet- have a ‘chosen genre’ or even a ‘chosen length’ of preferred writings. I just sit down and write. Or at least that is what I wish I would do. I am a far better procrastinator of writing at the present time. I think that I would like to be a writer of both fiction and nonfiction- that would combine into historical fiction. I love the study of archaeology and the problems one finds in asking the “what if” questions. I hope that I will eventually settle on writing shorter novels of historical happenings.

Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favorite?

Which of my senses would I pick as a favorite? I hope I never have to do without any of my senses, although my sense of smell is not as it was when I was younger. They say breaking one’s nose several times will inhibit the olfactory nerves? I do not think that I could choose a good favorite. The loving touch of my pup caressing me when return home… The taste of a fine pizza, of a grand spaghetti dinner… of a luscious Italian sub… the rush of a Mountain Dew on a hot afternoon… I certainly do not desire to do without any of those? Beautiful sunrises and sunsets…. Campfires at twilight… Black Pepper on sausage and gravy biscuits…. The sounds of the crescendos of a magnificent classical symphony…. No, I think I want to keep all of mine for as long as I can… No choosing!

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

I think I would be near the Number #1 spot in satisfaction of life. On any given day, the satisfaction rate might drop a peg or two, but give it a few hours… Number #1 would return.

Villains, But Not So Bright?

Higher and higher we climbed after hiding the stash.

Our initial escape had been fortuitous, but the horses had slipped in the rains and now the sheriff’s posse was upon us.

The nearby sinkholes were a God-send for dangling our plunder, if only we could find concealment.

The ivy seemed to cling far more tightly than either of us were able to do so.

If only we were not wearing our carnival reds?

A New Baby Brother

“As soon as I close my eyes, RUN!” I felt bad as soon as I had said it.

She was such a pest. I wanted a little brother. Now was my chance. If we did not take her home, my parents would certainly try again… He would not be big enough to play with me any time soon, but then he would not be big enough to get in my things for a while either. Things tend to balance out.

Slowly I counted. I heard her enter the gate to the maze.

“Where’s Abagail?

“We were playing hide-and-seek?” I shrugged.

HERE ARE THE FOUR QUESTIONS

WEEK #5

  • Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?
  • If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why?
  • What’s the story behind a time when you got locked out?
  • Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?

Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?

Easy!

If I had to pick between spending a day shopping or spending a day at the park… THE PARK!

I hate shopping. I try to do all the shopping for the month on one day so that I do not have to return to the belly of the beast except for the perishable necessities. If I could, I would spend the day AND THE NIGHT at the park… if it were legal. During the day, I could hike and enjoy nature, play tennis until I dropped, bring a pre-packed lunch for a massive picnic, nap under a beautiful tree, walk the dog, play some more tennis or horseshoes or basketball, set up the telescope and for viewing the stars that evening, roast some burgers or dogs, and then spend the night star-gazing. (Sorry for the run-on… but I got carried away at the thought!)

If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why?

If I were a shoe, I would be a sandal… actually a sandal flop. During the summers, I like to free the little piggies any chance I get.

What’s the story behind a time when you got locked out?

This one is too embarrassing to share! Even the thought of a well-constructed lie is embarrassing.

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts? Where should I begin?

Peanut Butter and banana sandwiches…Peanut brittle… Peanut M and M’s … Brownies with chucks of walnuts … Carrot cake with slivers of walnuts…  Pistachio ice cream… Macadamia nutted-vanilla cookies… The Almond Joy candy bar… Pecan pie… Planter’s Peanuts… Cashews in a mixed nut trail mix… Apple-Walnut muffins… Banana-Walnut Ice cream… Blueberry, watermelon, walnut salad… Cajun spiced walnuts… White chocolate chip macadamia cookies… Peanut butter cookies… Peanut butter chocolate pie dessert… Peanut butter brownie trifle… Peanut butter custard blast… Coconut Cake… Coconut cream pies…

And of course, the good ole’ circus peanut… that sugary orange peanut-shaped candy. (which is not a peanut at all- except in shape).
